McKeen & Associates recently filed a lawsuit on behalf of the family of Darrian Young, a 24-year old woman who was killed in an automobile crash on June 4, 2020.
At the time of the crash, Young was on duty working as the Animal Control Warden in Monroe County, Michigan. She was driving a fully-marked police vehicle when another vehicle ran through a red light at the intersection of Raisinville Road and M-50 in Monroe. The driver of the car that struck Darrian’s vehicle was intoxicated and involved in at least one other previous accident shortly before crashing into the police car. She left the scene of the accident.
After an investigation by the Michigan State Police into the events leading up to and including the crash, the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office issued warrants charging the driver of the vehicle that struck Darrian with Second Degree Murder and other charges. She has been arrested and is confined in the Monroe County Jail.
Our firm is continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash and determine who else may have liability for the crash other than the driver, such as the entity that provided the alcohol to her.
Darrian is survived by her mother, father, sister and fiancé, Zach Farris, which whom she recently purchased a horse farm in Exeter Township. Darrian has been described as “an enthusiastic, energetic, animal lover who had a particular passion for horses” according to her boss, Monroe County Sheriff, Dale Malone.
