Tylenol Liver Damage Lawsuit To Proceed In Federal Court

On Behalf of | Jun 29, 2012 | Dangerous Drugs

The connection between acetaminophen, an active ingredient in Tylenol, and liver damage has become quite apparent in recent years. Multiple medical studies have revealed a troubling link between acetaminophen and liver failure, resulting in numerous product liability lawsuits against Johnson & Johnson, the manufacturer of Tylenol.

One such lawsuit, filed by a woman in Florida, alleges that she suffered severe liver damage after taking the directed dose of Tylenol. Her liver failure resulted in a 10-day hospitalization. Her litigation against Johnson & Johnson is ongoing, but was recently transferred from state to federal court.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cautioned that acetaminophen is a leading cause of liver failure. Medical studies have convincingly linked high doses of acetaminophen to liver injury and failure, although liver injury claims involving use of the drug in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended dose of acetaminophen remain contentious.

If you or a loved one has suffered liver damage while taking Tylenol, contact an experienced Michigan drug injury attorney to discuss your legal options. McKeen & Associates helps victims of acetaminophen-related liver damage.
